Just Say No
It's Drug Free Awareness week at school and we had a door decorating contest. My class drew positive things they can do besides take drugs. One of my little boys, drew a picture of him lying in a chair. When I asked him what he was doing in the picture he said, "I'm at the dentist getting my teeth cleaned". Best way to say no to drugs EVER!

You have a rock where???
Right after recess one of my little kinder kiddos came to me bawling. I asked him what was wrong. He said, "I have a rock in my nose" as he's pushing it further up.
Seriously.

Feelings
Imagine asking a Kindergartener what some feelings they have are. A variety of answers will be given, some funny, some strange, some completely off the subject, and even some sad ones.

Sweet Irony
Of course it doesn't fail, school is about to start and something happens.
Imagine if you will spending two weeks practically killing ones self in order to get everything ready to teach first grade. You have that mental picture set? Good. Now imagine it is 3 pm the afternoon before your kids are to walk into your classroom for the first day of school. Then imagine your principal walking into your room and telling you that you are no longer teaching first grade, but rather teaching kindergarten.
This is exactly what happened to me Wednesday afternoon. Our numbers were not what we were expecting in the various grade levels so many teachers were moved around and shuffled to different grade levels, asked to move classrooms, and even move schools. It was chaos. Organized chaos, but chaos none-the-less.
I am fortunate enough however to have another week to reset up my classroom. I get to meet with my students one on one to assess them before they all come next Thursday. I've met quite a few already and I'm getting very excited to get the school year started with them.

1st Grade
I am officially a 1st grade teacher. Not gonna lie, didn't think I'd ever teach 1st grade. I miss the older kids so much. Kindergarten had its moments, but ultimately it is upper elementary that I love.
I have so many mixed emotions right now. I have spent two days in training, two days in my classroom, endless hours running through things in my head and yet I don't feel like I'm ready. Everyone keeps telling me I'll do great and not to worry, but I AM worried. I AM scared. I AM capable, but ready? I AM NOT.
Kids come in a week, wish me luck!

Muscles
Yesterday after recess another Kindergarten teacher and I were watching the students come inside. One of the little boys walked up to us and said, "guess what?" We took the bait and asked him what. He then responded, "I pushed two twenty pound girls on the swings today". The other teacher told him he was strong and so naturally as any 5 year old boy would respond, he said "I've been working out!"
